Artist in Residence

This program is currently on hiatus but has brought some truly remarkable filmmakers to the Bay Area in years past. Explore previous Artists in Residence bleow.

The Film Society's Artist in Residence program brought filmmakers to San Francisco for two-week residencies, which features programming in each of the Film Society's core areas–education, exhibition and filmmaker services—including a public screening, visits to Bay Area high school and college classrooms and opportunities to connect with local filmmakers. Visiting artists were selected based on their filmmaking experience, bodies of work and desire to share their knowledge with emerging filmmakers and film students.
